My friend Mamadou of Senegal, one of the many who have come from Africa to Europe, found some familiarity with my original strings and percussion instrument, the Tarcordium.
This piece titled Exodus is speaking through he music about the origins, the cultural exodus, and the human personal and collectivecultural transformation
The composition develops in three parts.
ORIGENES. In the beginning, the voice of Mamadou ( that quotes a known song about Africa) remembers us the restlessness of all those that want to leave their original place.
PASSAGE.Then comes the moment to go out. The passage is obligatory to reach a new existence. Here the voices multiply and there is the fear of the unknown. This transition from a place to another, from a situation to another, is always is a incognita, something very archaic, that brings us to the remote times times of our ancestors. Humans know the experience of migration since alway, and the nomads in fact, are in permanent exodus (or at least should have the right of this condition).

CHANT OF CONSTRUCTION.The last part represents at the same time the exit and the building of something new. A magic "rhythm" of 5/4 accompanies us in this organic process out of time (4+1, adding a unit to 4 represents the change to another dimension). The song represents the course of the regeneration of a civilisation and/or of an individual, in the direction to new possibilities and new manners to exist and to live on earth.



Mi amigo Mamadou de Senegal, uno de muchos
que han venido de África, encontraba cierta familiaridad con mi instrumento de cuerdas y percusión, el Tarcordium.
Esta pieza titulada Exodus es una reflexión sobre
el tema de los orígenes, del éxodo cultural, y la transformación a nivel grupal humano y personal.
La composición se desarrolla en tres partes.
En la primera, la voz de Mamadou ( que cita una conocida canción sobre África) nos recuerda la inquietud de todos los que quieren marcharse de su lugar original.
Luego viene el momento de salir. El pasaje es obligatorio para llegar a una nueva existencia. Aquí las voces se multiplican y hay el miedo de lo desconocido. Esta transición de un sitio a otro, de una situación a otra, siempre es una incógnita, algo muy arcaico, que nos lleva a los tiempos mas remotos de nuestros antepasados. La humanidad siempre ha vivido éxodos y los nómadas de hecho, están en éxodo permanente (se tendría que permitir esta condición).

La última parte (Chant of construction), representa a la vez la salida y la construcción de algo nuevo. Un ritmo "mágico" de 5/4 nos acompaña en este proceso orgánico sin tiempo (añadir una unidad al cuatro representa el cambio a otra dimensión). El canto es el curso de la regeneración de una civilización y/o de un individuo, en dirección a nuevas posibilidades y nuevos modos de existir.
